So for reasons I don't know or understand Microsoft stopped shipping the Indeo Codecs with XP SP2.

I recently had to reload my system and now some AVI files I have won't play. Looks like they are using the Ideo codecs.

After some research I found that Intel no longer supports this and Ligos Corp now does.

I do have my old WinXP CD. Anybody know what files I need to extract from the CD to reload the codec? Anybody know of any extra steps to register them on the system? I don't hink I should have to pay for what originally shipped witht he system for free.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark

not only did they stop shipping but the upgrades remove any old indeo. I got mine back by installing NTI. Other than that you may have to shell out the $15.00 for it

Thanks satrow. That did it for me. I installed K-Lite Codec mega package with Media Player classic.

One thing I don't get though is why if the codecs work for that they don't work for the new Media Player.

Anyone know how to register them?

I hope you find this post helpful.
