Code to search up a directory tree

Does anyone have or know where I can get code which will:<br>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;search for a a file and or directory at the current page's level and, if not found, search the next higher directory level, etc.<br>*&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;return a result code and, if successful, the absolute or relative path (not physical path)<br><br>I need code which is not encrypted as I'll amost certainly have to adapt it.
