Cobol 400/ILE Cobol

Hi Guys,
I am working with Informix technologies. Recently while I was reading some articles about Cobol, I found there are different types of Cobol. So can anybody tell me whats difference between Cobol 400 & ILE Cobol? Is this AS400 Cobol same as Cobol 400. I appreciate if you can tell me whats MS COBOL also. Is there any other type/version of Cobol? Where do I get more info about Cobol?

Isn't AS400 a piece of IBM hardware, while ILE designates a programming environment?

You have COBOL/400 and ILE-COBOL 400.

ILE-COBOL is a more recent version, includes intrinsic functions and other bits and bobs, and works under the LE environment.

You can find the manuals at

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm.

Download them and compare them to find the differences.
