Hi

I have raised a ticket with Avaya regarding a fresh install of Solairs and CMS R17 on a T5210 server.

As per the Softare Installation and Maintenance Proceedures Manual.

Fom scratch …booted CMS – pressed STOP+A during boot …got OK prompt

setenv auto-boot? false

setenv fcode-debug? True

reset-all

probe-scsi-all

14. Insert the Solaris 10 SPARC software disc into the disc drive.

15. Boot to the Solaris 10 DVD, enter: boot cdrom

16. The system boots from the disc and displays a list of languages.

17. Select the language that is appropriate for your location, and press Enter.

The system displays "Welcome" Screen.

Note:Note: Do not select Next.

18. Continue with Configuring RAID on page 27.

Pg27 - Configuring RAID – I am instructed to open a terminal window enter

stty erase Backspace

ksh –o vi

now unmount and remove the solaris cdrom

insert and mount the CMS software cd

copy the setraid file to the temp directory

cp -p /cdrom/setraid /tmp

execute the setraid from the /tmp directory

/tmp/setraid

***** IMPORTANT!! *****
The system is booted from a Solaris 10 8/11 (Update 10) DVD
If the system is being restored be sure that the system is booted from the
same version of Solaris that was used to build the original CMS system.
Please enter y to continue or press any other key to quit:

Instruced to remove cms Software CD and insert the Solaris CD again ….then press Y to message above

Comes back with

INFO: Setting up RAID – RAID 10 for SPARC, RAID 1 for x86
INFO: Intel chip RAID card. Arcconf utility will be used
INFO: Installing required RAID packages. Please wait…...
ERR: SUNWgccruntime or RAID utility StorMan install failed

the above is with an AAC RAID controller installed, I have also swapped the RAID controller to a MR-SAS but still get the same results.

The log file from the error above suggests that the package is not on the CDROM. - although the manual instructs to put the Solaris disk 10 8/11 back in.

Any help or greatly apreciated

It turns out that the instructions in the Avaya CMS R17.0 Solaris Software Installation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting July 2013 manual are misleading.

Page 29

After the *****IMPORTANT!!***** message – step 13, you are instructed to continue to step 15 if this is a new install

Step 15 says remove the Avaya CMS software disk

Step 16 - Insert Solaris 10 DVD

The setraid command needs to run with the CMS software CD inserted NOT the Solairs DVD.
