Hi,

I'm getting the following error in an event log

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: cmosa"

It doesn't seem to be affecting the system, but I can't find any information on this other than from the properties of cmosa.sys (generic port I/O)

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks
John

John,

I cannot tell you why, but can let you know I'm having the same problem. It seem to start occurring after I updated from NT4SP5 to NT4SP6a. I also changes a video driver about the same time, so I'm not completely sure what caused to problem to start. I've checked Microsoft's site and they do not seem to post anything about this under FAQ, etc. I have also talked it over with several Dell Support Staff and they seem to know nothing about it either. I've tried some things they suggest, like move to an even later release of the video driver and reapply SP6a, but the error message still appears (and logs in the event manager). The best advise I have heard is to up date to Win2000, but this is not currently an option at my company.

Guyz, all I can say is there is no fix! If you read the previous postings you will find posts from myself and John Curtis. We have spoken many times directly with Dell and MS and although Dell recognise there is a problem there is currently no fix.
