Just performed a CMOS flash, as per IBM instructions, on a Thinkpad 570e. Now, when booting, we get a "lock" symbol that will not let us proceed any further.

Any ideas on how to clear this would be appreciated!

Some systems have a "recovery" setting for the jumper that is near the coin battery on the mobo.
Consult your manual and if you cant find it then download a pdf copy from IBM.
See if you indeed have a recovery setting, in which case i have solved your prob.
If not, then someone smarter will be here, lol.

If you dont have a recovery mode for your bios, can you get into your bios at all? If so then set it at the "default" or "minimum" setting.

Let us know the answers.
thanks
