I came in on Thursday to a BSOD, and through the event logs in the BIOS, found out the battery died.
I am not able to get the scsi bios to recognize the hard drives under the scsi select utility.

When the server starts, (I loaded NT to an IDE HD) I get "Press F6 for SCSI Select Utility". When I do that, I can see all 4 SCSI drives.
The next thing that comes up during startup is "Press Alt-A to enter SCSI Select utility". When I do that, there are no hard drives found.

Any advice? I am not a SCSI expert, and it sounds like 2 different bios's are loading....

Thanks!

It sounds to me like you have two different models of Adaptek SCSI adapters in your machine. One with hard drives attached and one without.

When was the last time this server was rebooted? You should have seen these messages previously.

Having a second Adapter in the machine should not give you problems, unless they are using some of the same settings. However, that is not likely since the server was running fine before the crash.

I make no claims to SCSI smarts. It turns out that the low level formatting I did resulted in the Raid 5 Array being wiped out and it had to be rebuilt. Who knew? :)

Anyways, the two scsi bios's were for the one that 's onboard, and the controller card that is installed.

Thanks!
