I've been trying to figure this out since last night. All that happened was a pair of speakers were unplugged and another pair were plugged in to the CPU, computer was rebooted and since then ME has been giving an error message at start up saying, "cmdninst has caused an error in <unknown> Please reboot".
ctrl + alt + del shows that only cmdninst is running.

So I rebooted and the error message happened again. Since getting home I've looked up the error and its something to do with the sound card. I've been into safe mode and went to disable the sound card, but its no longer in the device manager.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ladyslinger

Must be some far out speakers. It sounds like you need to install a driver for those speakers. Try their mfgrs web site for possible downloads.

Its possible that something was jarred loose when you unplugged the speakers. You might shut the computer off, unplug all cables, and plug them back in. If it still does it, can you boot to safe mode?
