I am trying to set up a job in SQL Server Agent using the CmdExec option. Supposedly you just enter an operating system command or an executable name (courtesy of the extremely unhelpful Books Online).

The job starts, but the executable never runs and I can't work out why. Other jobs I have set up run without any problems.

Am I missing something blindingly obvious?

If you are not a sysadmin, then the command will run in the context of the SQLAgentCmdExec account.
Perhaps that account does not have enough (windows) privleges to execute?
