I have an S8700 with a number of G700's containing S8300 LSP's in our network.
I wish to add another G700 with LSP at a remote location but am a little confused regarding what licensing I have to pay for.
I have plenty of spare RTU's on the S8700 so do not need to purchase anymore user licenses there. Do I need to purchase user licenses to reside on the LSP when it goes into LSP mode.
I was under the impression (and looking at my other LSP's) that these duplicate all of the RTU's on the S8700 but are then restricted to 450 simultaneous IP station registrations.
Is anybody able to clear this up for me?

Many thanks,

Ninj'

NinjaUK51,

user licensing is done on the main switch (in your case, s8700) and does not relate to g700 lsps. the lsp license itself is needed to enable s8300 to act as lsp, copy and syncronize translations from central media server and so on. you should just buy g700/s8300 and a license for lsp, you don't need to buy licenses for users if you have spare ones. s8300 indeed is limited to 450 active users but that's a limitation of the server itself, not the licensing scheme.
