CM 4 with CMS 14, Is it possible to use CMS 16 without upgrading the CM?

This is CM4 with no MSP's (no chance to enable them, long story)
They currently have a CMS 14 with broken DAT tape drive and unknown when the last successful backup was
This site will migrate to a 6.3 with CMS 16 in a couple months
We would like to migrate the CMS before the PBX
In change system-parameters features the option:

CALL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
REPORTING ADJUNCT RELEASE
CMS (appl mis): R14

The highest option available is 14.1
Do you think there is any chance for this to work on CMS 16 with PBX stuck at R14 or R14.1?

Yes that will work - we upgraded to 16.2 while still on CM3. You just change the CMS version when you have finally upgraded CM.
