we are trying to set up a "cluster of one" (called lonewolf in the MS docs) i believe because we need the virtual server arch. but not the failover-ability. is it possible to enable clustering on high end machines that don't have "cluster aware" scsi controllers? We have it running on a couple of dell 6450s and perc controllers (2 node clusters) in the original config (the one we want to replicate on the single server) all attempts in install the cluster server software stops just after the "i understand i need special hardware screen" (sort of ironic actually) is there anyway past this? ow do geographically distant clusters work? really long scsi cables?
thanks

mike

Can't answer your cluster of one question, but geograpically distant clusters can work up to 10k on fiber channel using the same IP subnet (i.e VLAN).

If you need more than that you will probably need third party replication software, not necessarily using Mocrosoft Cluster Services- see SteelEye Technology, NSI, Veritas Cluster Server, can sometimes use different subnet depending on the application/network involved.
