i have a mscs cluster environment and recently we installed new dlt tape drive into the servers. to install the drivers when needed to bring each server offline. the primary server would not take ownership of the cluster and after a long period of time neither server would take ownership over the cluster and the cluster could not be view. the cluster could not be pinged. after 7 hours it resolves itself but we thought there might be some corruption in the virtual name and connection of the cluster. so we were able to bring one node online using the ip address versus the name of the cluster. any idea how the name might have become corrupt? if that's what it was?
also we are changing the backbone of our network which we require us to change our ip address on our cluster. microsoft has said it would be easy but a message here said that the cluster servers might have to be rebuilt. which is true? lastly, where could we go to get cluster training?

thanks,
lisa

Hi,

Changing the Ip-address,s of the cluster is a BAD BAD thing to do, i have an Exchange 5.5 cluster and first builded it in a testlab. I changed the Cluster ip too and nothing worked again. If you want to access the cluster if their is an error and you can,t getin use dot "." as the clustername and you can get in. Then you can change things in the clusteradmin console. search technet on this... here is one howto change a cluster ip-address:

greetings ;-)
