Has anyone done this? I use Ghost 2003. I encountered problems when cloning win2000 & office 2000 because of the way win2000 registers programs. I would like to know if there would be a problem with cloning win98 & office 2000. I have to use win98 because of legacy applications still being used.

Didn't seem to be a problem on the one I did about a year ago.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

could use Mkcompat.exe (Slayerui.dll) in 2K (on CDROM) for legacy apps, - need atleast have installed Windows 2000 SP2 installed -
see "quazi's" detailed 3rd post of this google cache - the Orig doesn't exist anymore ..boohoo

here's a snip;
--------------
To enable this feature, you must have installed Windows 2000 SP2. Once this is installed, do the following:

Click Start --> Run --> type: regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll
------------------
much more there - but then again you're having issues ghosting with 2K anyway

I've not had any problems cloning 2k or XP with office installed - never cloned 98 - but can't see it being a problem (as long as you've licences for all the office installations)

I have cloned many times. On occasion, I'll hit a copy where certain things aren't quite right, I remember the office assistant being damaged, was one of them.

In general, I would guess maybe 1 out of 10 you might have a problem, but I remember a project where I ghosted about 15 machines, and only one came out bad.

You should be safe.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Thanks everyone, i have cloned 4 machines and all ok except the network card reinstalls on first boot and asks for the netware client cd and win98 cd. Strange, as these were installed on the master. One clone has the same NIC listed twice. One with the correct setup and the other with nothing set.
