After cloning a 2000 professional image. I try to run Ghostwalker to change the SID. When I run the ghostwalker the system seams to get stuck on the portion that says: "Detcting bootable 9x and NT installation".

I have version 6.5.1 of the ghostwlker.

Thanks for your help!!!!

I'm not familiar with GhostWalker, but just out of curiosity, why not just run Sysprep to prepare the drive for imaging? Are there other advantages to using GhostWalker?

Thanks, [ponytails2]

There is also a utility at sysinternals.com for changing the SID if you need it.

Sysprep does not prompt me to change the Sid or it does automatically?

Where can I download Sysprep?

Thanks

Micotin846,

If you have a Windows 2000 CD, you can also get the Sysprep tools from the Support\Tools folder. Just copy the Deploy.cab to your harddrive and extract the files...

Sysprep was developed to eliminate several problmes you may encounter when copying disk, i.e., your issue with unique SIDS.

The Sysprep tools adds a system sevice to the master image that will create a unique local domain SID the first time the computer to which the master image is copied is started.

Sysprep also adds a 'mini' setup wizard which runs the first time the computer to which the master image is copied is started.

User specific info in the mini setup wizard:

EULA
Product ID
Regional Settings
User Name
Company Name
Network Configuration
Workgroup or Domain
time Zone Selection

Sysprep also casues the master image to force the computer on which the master image is copied to run a full plug and play device detection.

If you want to automate the 'mini' setup wizard you can use the Setup Manager Wizard to create a Sysprep.inf file. This file providies answers to the mini setup wizard on the destination computer.

Hope this helps a little...[ponytails2]

The one that comes on the CD I believe is 1.0, which does not support dfferent IDE drivers. If you need that option, download 1.1.
