i am using exmerge to restore a users mailbox...i have the users data all stored in a .pst after using exmerge.

do i just go to the user's .pst path on his desktop and copy the new .pst into his path?

i have done that before and when user opens up his outlook it shows

exmerge-(username)

what is the proper procedure to store a user's .pst data file back after exmerge creates it?

Run exmerge on the Exchange server.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

Typically I would use the outlook client. Just use the Import/Export feature under the File menu. When you are done with the restore discard the .pst file. I take it you restored your database to a recovery storage group and then exported to .pst. The "exmerge - [username]" is normal.
