I have several w95/98 pc's logging onto a Windows 2000 domain. Alot of these PCs are getting intermittent logon problems.

The problems range from fatal exception errors, to just hanging and not running the logon script.

I can find no common factor as to why this may be happening. I have considered anti virus software and DSclient may be causing this but removal of these seems to have no effect.

Can anyone suggest why a large number of client PC's might have these issues?

I have experienced similar behavior on Windows 98 stations with the DSclient loaded. Fatal exception errors when accessing network shares, logon problems, ...
I believe the problems are caused by the DSclient, although I can't be sure. We've decided to resolve the problem by upgrading our workstations to Windows 2000. I have also found that by reinstalling troubled workstations with Windows 98 and not installing the DSclient, a lot of the problems vanished. Of course, without installing the DSclient, those workstations tend to all validate to the PDC emulator instead of spreading to different DCs. I'm afraid there's no easy solution to this problem.
