Hi,

I have the next configuration in the host file:

127.0.0.1 localhost
10.10.2.55 net int

After that, I create 2 clients in NetWorker server 6.1.4 on Windows Server 2000 such as:

int
with clientid 719b5d2b-00000004-422eec95-422eecbf-00020000-01000002

net
with clientid 98caee32-00000004-422eec94-422eec93-00010000-01000002

But now, I wish to permut the client id beetween the clients. How can I proceed ??

NetWorker doesn't want to permut the clientid.

Also I delete the 2 clients and then, I create the client int with the clientid of net, it is not possible. How can I do ?

Thanks,

Marc

NB: It's a step in order to migrate one server S1 to another server S3, by passing another server called S2 such as:
S1 --> S2 --> S3 (in the text above we are in S2)

Hi Marc,

What exactly is your goal? Networker is pretty DNS bound so you may have issues w/ the client having same IPs/DNS but different ids.

We have the DNS that is configured as the same that the host file even if the host file is not necessary.
We don't have any problem about DNS/IP/name resolution of any station.

The only thing is to permut the 2 clients id of the 2 machines.

In a nutshell, the migration is like to this:

The server S1 with his hostid called for example S1h
The server S2 with his hostid called for example S2h
The server S3 with his hostid called for example S3h

The procedure is to inject the hostid of S1 in S3.
After that, S1 will be used as client (by modifing the script of NetWorker).
In order to do that, we must create a client in S2 called S3 with the clientid of S1.
With the mmrecov command from S2 to S3, if this step (of permut clientid) will be ok, the migration is ok.

But the problem is that on S2, when we create the client S3 with the hostid of S1, NetWorker server on host S2 doesn't want to create the client S3 with the hostid of S1.

Why ??
Thanks to give any reason,

Marc

I'm a bit confussed as what exactly you're trying to do/or accomplish, and, I thought the client-id normally generated by NW?
