ITSM for Space Management - formally known as HSM.

There is not a HSM for Windows only for AIX, Solaris and Linux.

Years ago I hear that there is a third part softwware that works like HSM for the Windows platform. So far I have not enocunter such software.

HSM is basically software that takes files that aren't accessed as frequently and moves them to TSM (frequently tape but in theory could be any storagepool). It then leaves behind a small stub file so if an application comes along and tries to access it, HSM retrieves the file from TSM for the application which of course experiences a delay before getting it.

HSM products tend to be highly configurable as far as how they decide what gets moved to nearline storage and what doesn't, leaving that decision in your hands. e.g. it could be frequency of access, size, location, etc etc..

Nope thats something else. I'm not sure how to get a trial verison. Check and make sure it's not already on your baclient media but if worse comes to worse, call your IBM rep i'm sure he'll dig something up.
