After the initial installation of clients on Win98/W2K Pro workstation, client does not renew DHCP addresses with correct network mask. For example, before the SMS was installed, clients address was 192.168.10.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. After the sms client is installed, the next DHCP renew call would change the mask to 255.255.0.0. Lease duration has been set to 30 days and without the SMS, workstations renewing the addresses without any issues.
More information, network consists of Cisco Cat 5500 class switches with Fastpath turned off. I heard of a similar issue with Baystack 450T switches and wondering if we are seeing the same type of a problem.
