Client Agent Version9 compatible with Arc Serve 2000

Trying to use client agent V9 with Arc Serve 2000.Comes back with E8524 Error.Received unrecognized command from the client.Are they compatible?

arcserve 2000 is backward compatible but not FORWARD compatible
