Environment
- Server: NW5.1 with SP7
- Client: 4.90sp1a on XP

I've upgrade the client on a workstation to 4.90sp1a and strange things happen: I can get login successfully... but error occur trying to open folders on the mapped drives. Actually, I can get into the folders on the first or second level (sometimes even the third), but then I'll get an "Access Denied" error and then I lose connections to all these mapped drive. Any clues?

File Caching is usually the cause of that - on the server type:

SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED

If the value is ON, turn it off.

there are a couple of BETA patches out for the client. One is to do with losing mapped drives etc. Have a look at support.novell.com/filefinder. Click on new this month.

After a week of torture, we decided to give up 4.90 sp1a and reinstalled 4.83 sp2 on our workstations... login now happens almost immediately. 4.90sp1a sucks!!! How could Novell put such a buggy release on their main download page!

i think xp is the bug issue

havent you noticed that most problem seem to satrt with the line - im using xp

i'm using the 4.9 sp client on xp and 2000 and it's been solid though

I have same problem,
Netware 5.1 + sp6
W2K Pro with client 4.90sp1a
every time I have to detach from server and then I can access server for a while, and lost connection again.

??????????

Have you got file caching switched off also?
