clicking noise on isdn lines

unit, ip406v2, ver 4.05

we are finding a crackling noise when we dial to trunk, we have checked power, and telecoms have checked basic rates, still noise any ideas?

Is it on all lines? Could be the providers box here in the netherlands they use mostly NT1's.

I had it !

It was a slip clock problem due to the network.
In worst cases the crackling noise increases time by time, then the IPO restarts to force a clock re-alignement.

You could try with clock settings in "fallback" or "not used"

Make sure only one of your ISDN 2's is set to Clock Wetowrk and set the others to fallback.

Try using a Trend on the lines and the system to narrow down the culprit.

I thought that only one can be set to network and one can be set to fallback and the rest set to unsuitable.

You can set several as Network and as Fallback. Somewhere in the IP Office Installation manual there is a description of the order in which they will be used if a clock signal is available.

Without doing a cut and paste

Clock Quality: Default = Network
Sets whether the IP Office takes it clock source for call synchronization and signalling from this line. One line connected to the IP Office should be set to Network. and wherever possible this should be a line connected to the central office exchange. Another line can be set to Fallback but all other lines should be set to Unsuitable.



Im interested in the out come of this as we are suffering call issues (dropping / fading / clicking / cutting off ) on a couple of sites and wonder wether this could be similar

you started the thread but haven't replied yet, any news on the clicking?
bas1234 asked if it happens on all lines or only specific ones, I am out of the ISDN for about 10 years but I had clicking in conjunction with bit errors on ISDN before, so if it is only a specific line then that could be the issue, if it is on all lines go for the clocking
