My system partition is starting to run low on disk space. What files can I get rid of to clear up some space on this partition? Also, what is the best way to maintain an Exchange 2003 Server (SP1)?

Thanks.

You're not asking for much, are you?

"How do I" questions are easily answered with a Google search.
[google]manage microsoft exchange[/google]

As for cleaning up the system partition, you haven't told us what's on it. What applications were installed to that partition? Something that does logging? Backup software? AV quarantine? Old hotfix and SP files?

I agree with 58sniper, you need to go a good search.

But on many systems first thing you want to check is the c:\windows\system32\logfiles folder. This is the default location for all the SMTP and IIS logs and can get quite large.

You'll probably find tons of old log files in there that you can delete if confident or move if not.

Also check TEMP folders etc. etc.

Only Exchange and GFI Mail Essentials exists on this box. I will search for old log files from both of these apps on that partition. Thanks.

Exchange is actually installed on the "D" partition and GFI is installed on the system partition. I also have Symantec Mail Security for Exchange installed on the sys partition.

I'd get both of those off the system partition. Anything that has logging or quarantines should NOT be on the system drive.

And while you are at it, get a larger disk, at todays prices, there are no excuses to run out of disk space!
