I think I am somewhat sold on the new 9600G sets after staying at hotel in NYC this past weekend. My room had 2 9641G sets and the hotel had an IP Office, according to the front desk.

The ring tones were not the standard Avaya/Lucent/ATT warble. There were a futuristic sounding ring tone, which I believe are called RICH.

Unfortunately the hotel locked the phones Options and Settings so I couldn't go through and hear all of the different tones.

My main question is..... Are the Rich only available on H.323 sets?

The eight "rich" ringtones are available on the following phones running H.323 software - 9670G, 9608, 9611G, 9621G, 9641G.

I think they do. But last I remember, the SIP versions did not work on IP Office yet, so H323 is the only option.

The rich tones are nothing exciting.
I did a recording of them with my cell phone (so they sound crappy).

Thanks for the recording of the ringtones Austin. 1 and 2 are definitely cool sounding, but the others sound a bit "Ciscoey" if thats word? Otherwise the old standby Definity rings still sound ok....even though they have been around since 1984! Even though I am a Nortel guy, can't say much about those either, the Nortel ring tones have been around since 1988...needless to say I am liking the IP Office a bit more everyday.
