All,

I am running Citrix Metaframe 1.8 on a Win2k server located in a Windows NT4.0 Domain. I want to restrict access to my servers desktop.. any user in my network can create a custom ICA file, point it to the server, then gain access to the servers desktop.

Please Help!

Publish the desktop as an application.
And then assign rights to that published application.
Then adjust the ica listener to only connect to published applications.

Problem solved.....

How do i publish the desktop as an app... also how do I config the ica listner to only connect to published apps

From the management console publish a new application.
As the type of application choose desktop. Is in one of the first screens. Then finish the wizard.

Next open the Citrix Connection configuration.
Open the properties of the ica-tcp connection.

And in one of those screens you can set the option only allow published applications.

And for safety you should also adjust the security of the RDP-TCP connection. Only allow administrators to connect.

Else users could still connect with an rdp client to the desktop of the server.

Hope this helps

Hey guys I finally figured it out... Thanks for all your replys.

On the Win2k Server I set permissions on the M:\winnt\explorer.exe file. Removed the Read & Exicute permission for this from my user group... works great.

Thanks
