Hi, I am VERY new to the world of Citrix, please bear with me!

I have been asked to evaluate the possibility of running Microsoft Office over Citrix.

We currently have a 15 user Citrix sytem, but over 300 users and I would like some pointers/help for the following question!

Q: If I buy 15 copies of Office 2003 will I be legally licened to run ANY 15 CONCURRENT MS OFFICE 2003, but over all 300 users? I might want to run 10 in one department and 5 in another one day, then 15 in a totally diffent department the next day?

Am I right in thinking that as I cant actually run more than 15 concurrent anyway (thats the Citrx limit I have) that I can install the Citrx client on all 300 users, so any of them could run Office, but only to a nmax of 15 at any one time?

Or, in this instance, would I have to buy 300 copies of Microsoft Office!

Ive tried looking on the MS site, but cant see anything specific. If anyone has an answere and especially a link to MS or Citric site that may have this online, I would be...

VERY VERY GRATEFUL

Thanks

Jon

It is my opnion that because you only have 15 Citrix licenses that you can only have 15 concurrent users using Office in your citrix environment, therefore you would only need 15 office licenses. You can install the Citrix client on as many machines as you want, the ica client is just that, a client, a means of connecting to a citrix environment, in the same way that every copy of xp ships with the rdp client as a client for terminal services.

Not difficult.

You have to have an office license for all users who run Office. If 300 users are going to run it from citrix then you need 300 licenses, even though only 15 can run at any one time.

If however they have a license for their desktop that counts as a license to run it through citrix too.
