Hi everybody, I have a weird project, a customer is ready to replace his Nortel Meridian with an IP Office but would like to gradually replace the extensions unfortunately the 250 M3900 series extensions they have do not work with the TCM. I found this document after punching in M3903 in the knowledgebase

What do you think? My experience with 3rd party SIP Phones is not that good, to me a 3rd part SIP phone is nothing more than a glorified Analog phone with a cute LCD screen with a menu and cool ring tones but that's it! What kind of experience is the end user going to have with the Citel? A full Meridian experience with most of the original features or a glorified analog phone? I know these boxes are expensive, is it worth doing it?

Well I am going to try and auto answer my post...I talked with the Citel guys and according to them the end user experience is transparent and they will not be aware that they are now connected to an IP Office instead of the Meridian, they do have some issues with the M3904. The TVA is supposed to mimic the Meridian, it is kind of cool because you can interface NEC, Nortel, Meridian, Toshiba and even Panasonic DBS sets with the IP Office. I think it is a bit expensive compared to the cost of brand new digital phones but maybe if the site you are trying to migrate is around 20 to 24 or more extensions you may be able to save the customer some money. In my case the customer will be saving a ton of money because of the large number of extensions.
