CISCO VPN MODS

The VPN module in a 2845 router, does anyone know if this is nessesary in creating a simple point to point vpn between sites. Why do I need this mod? Or it is for a VPN server?

It is not necessary to have simple vpns. The card merely offloads the vpn connections to the processor on the card and thus frees up router resources.

I believe that is for handling many endpoints.
