running XP and had 4.01 running OK (for awhile - it won't connect now saying remote peer terminated locally or something to that extent) I have upgraded to 4.05 and it gives me a warning cisco vpn sub-system not available. I reloaded still same thing. They said you may have to manually run the cvpnd.exe service? Anyone with any suggestions? i

First, check if cvpnd is running and as set to automatic. If it is automatic but isn't running, then try to start it manually and check the event log.

Also try the VPN and Pix forums. The real VPN specialists are likely to be there.

Could be a problem with the additional IP adapter, (I believe it's the deterministic network adapter) the client adds and reinstallation.

I've seen this error on laptops when the network card gets unseated and reseated. Have to reboot the laptop to get the VPN client to work again.

Questionable whether you have a pure VPN client issue.
