Have had my Cisco link working fine with QSIG but recently the link is causing problems...The indication is that the 'D'Channel is AEST (Awaitign Establishment) and can Enable each channel ENCH on the loop ?

When I try and ENL the Dchannel I don't get any expected responses.

I have looped back the link down the Cisco and they can see it, but nothing has changed either on the Cisco side or the PBX.

The DChannel is on an MSDL supporting other IPTrunks etc and am very hesitant to take this down and Force Down Load again...Have taken down the Dual Pri Card and reset/reseated no effect..I am struggling now !!

Spoke to the IPT guys and they say that they are expecting to see the Dchannel on 15 ? Ironically my MSDL physical address is 15 and the Dchanel is 6, surely there is no relation !!

Cheers !!

Can we assume this is a EURO ISDN link, using an E1? The reason I ask is that the D-Channel is on channel 24 on all US 1.544 Mb/s T1's. If you IPT guys are looking for it on channel 15, that would sound like a 2.0 Mb/s E1.

BTW, one other option you may want to add is under the PR_TRIGS CTR1 or CTR2. This allows the Nortel to respond to path replacement requests as defind in the Q.SIG RFC.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.

i never think of software for a condition that is not stable. qsig like most software seems to be perfect or it will not come up.. does the lcnt table show any problem? either way i would look at the hardware on both ends... if the link is clean, my local link is a patch cord my second route is across glass and neither have taken a single lcnt hit after the install feb of last year..

John & ScottM,

on the counters I have so far:-
G2 RAI (26)
LOS (3)

SLPPREP (3)

When I try and enable the loop it tells me every time I have Group2 error detected

Any ideas ?

The IPT Guys still go on about this channel 15 on the cisco
needs to be matched ?

Do I need to insist that they double check it's set up for ISDN Primary QSIG

Cheers !!

i would still look at the loop itself. those hits are layer 1 if my book is current

I agree. I am showing the router should be set up like this within Call Manager:

Network Locale = United States
PRI Protocol Type* = PRI QSIG T1
Protocol Side* = User
Channel Selection Order* = Bottom Up
Channel IE Type* = Timeslot Number
PCM Type* = u-Law
Delay for first restart = 32
Delay between restarts = 4

This is the Call Manager config to match with your Q.SIG programming on the Nortel. The only thing I can find that would even begin to address D-Channel location is on the Network Locale option. If it is set to anything like Europe or EURO ISDN, the router will look for the D-Channel on Channel 15 (and 16). Otherwise, the D-Channel is always on Channel 24.

OK Guys many thanks for your time and help on this !!
Checking cables/connections working backwards..Thanks for the Cisco Configs as I can clarify with the IPT guys.

Maybe I'll source a daughter board rather than changing out the MSDL card without impacting too much on other dch's configured.

Cheers!!

i haven't had a msdl cause intermittent problems, they either seem to work as programed or never est. sounds like you know that any change has to be downloaded to the card. ld 96 dis msdl x all enl msdl x fdl.. we get used to changes being dynamic we sometimes forget to download that card.
