Hi,

I have a PIX Firewall 506e - PIX verion 6.3(1) and PDM Version 3.0(1) and am trying to setup VPM Access to our network. Our inside network address is 192.168.0.0/24 and our outside address is 81.98.162.201/24. I beleive it is possible to setup VPN access to our network without the Cisco VPN client software and have tried to follow the instructions on to create VPN. The problem is that the example refers alot to a 192.168.1.0/24 network which does not appear on the diagram and so I am therefore unable to adapt this example. Can anyone help? also what should I expect when a PPTP tunnel is created. Will a user be prompted for a username and password as thought they are physically connected to the network. Thanks in adavnce for any help...

The 192.168.1.0 address is the pool of addresses that the VPN client will be assigned an address from. Your remote client when successfully connected will appear as that address on your network.

Once successfully connected with the VPN the machine should behave as if it were directly connected to the LAN. If you map a share it should prompt you.
