Hi,

I've purchased a new Pix 501 and PC's behind it cannot access outside addresses, nor can I ping the outside interface from the router. I am sure it is something simple like a routing or access list problem as I can ping the inside interface from behind it but not the outside. I've added a route for the router interface but it doesn't seem to be working. Please advise.

Do you have a router between the Inside Interface of your PIX and your PC's?

If so how do you have the route set up?

Your PIX looks fine.

Do a tracert from your PC's and how far do you get?

Frank

Thanks for your swift reply!

No, I have the router in front of the PIX and the PC's behind it. I cannot traceroute to the outside interface of the pix from the router or from the PC's. I can traceroute to the inside interface from the PC's however.

What type of cable you have connected to your PIX and router? Is it a straight through or a cross-over cable? needs to be a cross-over.

Also from your PIX can you pint the router connected to the internet? Both interfaces?

Frank

Hi,

I am using a crossover cable I tried changing the cable but still no luck. I can't ping the pix from the router can it be an accesslist problem?

Sorry i can't ping the router from the pix either

Can you post your config for your router?

I do not think its an access-list problem on the PIX, could be one on the router.

Frank

It turned out to be an access-list problem on the pix. Thanks for your help!
