Cisco Cluster Management -Command Switch

Can anyone provide instruction on the method/CLI commands to demote an existing cluster command switch (Cisco 3524-XL) and promote a new switch (Cisco 3550)to command switch? It is desired for the 3524 to remain as a member in the existing cluster. Currently the cluster also contains 7 other Cisco switchs (2916-XL).
