Cisco 877 ADSL problem

I have a brand new Cisco 877 ADSL router and I cannot figure out how to configure the router with the IP address to the ISPs default gateway. I have the interface dialer0 set to my public static ip as shown in Cisco's documentation. Do I need to set the ATM0 interface with an IP? The documentation does not say anything about setting an ip address on ATM0. I could not get the web based configuration software to work so I am doing this CLI. Anyone who can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
