Hi, I've no idea with the Switches. My question is: after power on a new Cisco 3550 swithes, it runs self-tests; once it gets ready, i connect it to an old Cisco 3550 using BGIC, and i also connect a PC to it, but it tooks me more than 1 minute to get the IP address for using. How can i adjust this waiting duration shorter? Thanks.

Make sure you have spanning tree portfast configured on the port your pc is attached too, otherwise you have to wait for spanning tree to go thru it's whole cycle which could be up to 50 seconds .

thank you very much, vipergg. Can you provide me some configration samples of that? Is it like config interface 0/1 and span portfast?? thanks again.
