I have two internet connections using the same router but I am having problems with getting them to work right. One connection is using a wireless microwave and the second is using a fractional T1. Has anyone tried this, if so can you give me examples of what my configuration should look like? I am kinda new at the router thing.

Thanks in advance.

it doesn't matter what your Layer 1 [physical interface eg ethernet, wireless, tin-can] is, as long as it can pass packets across the medium.. all u need to do is configure your router as normal... the routers nowadays support several Layer 1 applications, and alot of Layer 2 protocols... so configuration should be transparent and a breeze...

a configuration example would be...

wireless connection on ethernet 0

T-1 on serial 0

conf t

int e0

ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0

int s0

ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation hdlc

ip route 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.2

this is just a bare-bones example.. u haven't said how u want to deploy the links..

good luck..

how do i setup up though so that the t1 acts as a backup and the gateway kicks in when the primary goes down. How do i configure the ip route?
