I have an internal OC3 connection between two remote sites that will be feeding 3 seperate subnets among other things. The traffic on two networks will be moderate and the other will be relatively low. I need a small router to route these three different networks.
So I figure I need a router with at least 2 fast and 1 slow ethernet interfaces. I have been told that the Cisco 2600 series routers cannot support more than two routable ehternet interfaces in one unit. Can anyone confirm this? The price difference between a 36 and 2600 series router is considerable and would like to go the 2600 router if possible.
In reasearching an alternate solution for this I also came about a layer three switch that supposedly can be configured so individule ports can route or switch. Is this true? I have look on the Cisco site for answers but I find it extremely frustrating to navigate.
