Cisco 2600 Config

We have about 300 Nortel routers, but we recently purchased a couple Cisco routers, including a 2600. Nortel provides for us software called Site Manager as a GUI to configure the devices. Is there GUI software to configure the Cisco OS?

Do you have any references to help us learn the Cisco OS?

Don't bother. It's crap. If I remember correctly there are SNMP vulnerabilities with it as well.

Ciscoworks is very limited as to what you can configure . Even in this day and age Cisco is still command line configured for the most part . They have built http that you can use but that is shakey at best also . Always thought Synoptics/nortel had much better troubleshooting tools than cisco .

Cisco has a wealth of example configs and CLI references on their web site. We also have tons of Nortel and a few Cisco's. I have found all the config info I needed on the web site.

There are GUI's for routers but usually are not loaded by default use CLI for Routers. Switches often have GUI loaded by defualt and can be hit via

address.

Ciscoworks is great for companies with tons of cisco equipment. Cisco Works is the GUI Utility within CW2000 for working on routers and switches. I think Cw2000 is EOL and has been replaced. Cw2000 is a very broad utility and is not built for initial configuration unless you have configs built and ready to push out. It will also support SNMP v2 and V3 which are more secure than SNMP v1.
