I just upgraded my cisco 2514 router by adding a 4 MB system code simm (flash) to the second simm socket. The first socket already has a 4mb flash simm. I am trying to have the router show that there is 8 MB total flash. When I do a show flash command it informs me that there are 4 MB total in System Flash Directory partition 1 and 4MB total in System Flash Directory Partition 2. I am a bit of a newbie to cisco routers so I do not know how to proceed from here. I bought two fairly good books but they do not go over the upgrading of the router memory.

You should be able to do a 'no partion flash', you should then see one 8Mb flash.
