I'm redesigning my home lan for my learning purposes. Basicaly I have a cisco 2514 as my border router. I also have a linksys wrt54g behind the 2514. I basically have a switch and I've connected the 2514's EO to the switch and I've also connected the wan interface of the linksys to the switch also. My problem is surfing speeds I have a 3meg pipe and I'm only getting 1458 down. When IO have nothing but the linksys in place I average 2889 down. What am I missing after all the 2514 has 10meg interface so I thought it could handle the traffic.

Firstly, check the duplex settings on the C2514...you probably have it set for 10M Full duplex...make sure the settings on the C2514 & your switch match.

From the description of your problem , it looks like a duplex mismatch that needs to be corrected on your switch.
