I'm in our Cisco 2501 router, trying to change the regular password and the enable password.

It's acting like it doesn't recognise the password command.

Password:
ES2501>ena
Password:
ES2501#password samplepass
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

ES2501#

This is what I'm getting. It's been a while since I've had to work on a router, and am probably doing something stupid.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks
ChuckG

Chuck
you are not in configuration mode

Type conf t (configure terminal)
then go again

Thanks Steve,

Told you it was probably something stupid.
