I have a general VPN question for anybody who can answer. If I attempt to log into my company's VPN via the windows software client, it gives me a private IP address that is pre-defined on the VPN 3015.

I am trying to configure the Cisco IOS to connect to the VPN 3015 instead of using the software client. My question is, how will the IP addressing work?

I have applied my crypto maps to my interface "dialer1", and my dialer1 interface has my public IP (assigned by my ISP). How can the Cisco IOS connect to the Cisco VPN 3015 (and what interface does it put the IP on??) Like I said, I normally get a private IP when using the Windows client, however I just don't understand where the private IP will be assigned within the Cisco IOS.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Rainman
