CISCO 1700 Router Configuration for Two Network Blocks

I have CISCO 1700 Router configured for a network block assigned by ISP.We ran out of static IPs and request the ISP for another block. I need to configure the CISCO router for another network block .
would the following statement added to the configuration take care of this
ip route IPaddress of network block Subnetmask fastethernet 0.0

please advice

I will be much better if you can give us more details like simple text-based diagrams like this:

Internet---E0=Cisco 1700 router=F0---F0/1=switch---hosts

...and your router configuration.
