Hello all-

can someone please explain this service.. is it only used for Exchange based log/storage utilization? Is it worth using and what is it's core functionality.. I'm hearing many disparate stories whether pros and/or cons but I'm more confused about it's necessity now.

thx for any info

It's only for Exchange, and you don't want it enabled. Enabling it removes the ability to restore to the point of failure. The only thing it's good for is not chewing up drive space with logs. If you're doing a full backup with an Exchange aware application, you're don't have to worry about log files accumulating.
