Shortcode

I have a 3 site SCN, with the PRI in main. When a call comes into a DID, it is routed over the IP Line to a hunt group via a System Shortcode. The receptionist on the far end (4424), sees only "External" for the CID name. How do I get the name passed across the IP Line?

I might be wrong here (I often am ;)) - however I believe this is only possible when using Advanced SCN - and Im assuming because you are using a shortcode that you dont have Advanced SCN only SCN.

Thinking about this you shouldnt need Advanced SCN for this - just SCN.

Discussed it with my colleague and he thinks its because of the shortcode.

Try pointing the DDI directly to the hunt group rather than via a short code.

The thing that stumps me, The system was at 3.2.X, and I upgraded to 4.2.11. Back years ago I fought Avaya Support about this failure, and they wrote the code into the software around 3.1-3.2. The issue was resolved. But of course after the upgrade the issue returned.
I have checked the new 4.2.14 release notes, and there are no notes about this being a problem or resolved.

Thanks Pepp77. Based on the response I think I need to pursue Avaya on this one. I don't have Advanced Networking so I have to aim it at the remote site through a shortcode, unless there is another way, which I am VERY open to. :)

But if anyone has any info on the same issue, let me know.

Shortcode - yeah sorry ignore my first post ramblings - you dont need Advanced SCN to route incoming calls directly to a hunt group - this works with just SCN.

So as long as you actually have SCN (and are not just running an IP line) you shuold be able to point the ICR directly to the hunt group (you will have to manually type it into the destination box) andit should ring directly to that group.

The short codes are only needed if SCN isnt used (or as a backup incase it fail).

Normal SCN needs shortcodes for calling huntgroups
Advanced networking does not

Pepp, I think you are getting confused with "Advertise Group" on advanced SCN

Sorry yep - SCN only allows direct calls to extensions rather than groups without a short code. Although you can set a follow me to a hunt group on a dummy extension on the remote site to get around the need for short codes.
