I have a small user that has purchased a CICS from me. He has 1 incoming line and that line also has Identscall on it for a fax machine. So the second number rings differently and activates the fax to answer when this line rings in on the dialtone of line 1. My question how will this work on a CICS system on line 1 ???

get a identacal box(ring detector) to separate the lines before going to the system

any type in mind ??? The Stick will not work for identa call !!!

the built in detector needs to be answered by the cics built in auto attendant to work right

I've used "ring commanders" and "line share device" (lsd) (ya ha ha ) set as ring detect

the fax should have a built in detector also. some call it ring master or distinctive ring

WORK SMART NOT HARD

You guys have lost me ??? I cant use auto attendent they only have 1 line and want to answer it. Is it safe to say they just need to get another line and use it for fax ??

the fax should have an internal distinctive ring detector, you need to set up the fax first and make sure it only answers the correct ring type, than just run the one line to both the CICs and the fax.

I think if you set up the CICS to answer the calls, it will sample the incoming ring and send it to the fax or the phone.
That's what it's designed to do.

there are three methods of making this work that I can see off hand.
1. get a fax detecter that detects distinctive ring patterns and let that route the call to the fax machine.
2. let the fax detector on the CICS route the call to the IATA on the cics then to the faxx machine.
3. Wire the Line to a fax machine that detects distinctive ring then wire the output of the phone jack of the fax machine back into the port on the CICS (if you go this route use CO1 on the cics to avoid dead air when you access the outgoing pool) and let the fax machine detect the distinctive ringe.
