I have a CICS VM that answers and takes messages just fine, but when a user presses the button on their phone to retrieve they get static? I'm not real familiar with the site, figured I'd post up on here before I send somebody out without a clue.
Could be a thousand things.
Tech should check all the usual's, if cant fix maybe give us some details like software versions etc and what they tried/did.
Either that or just trace out the line cords and move to spare ports on system. Then change CFNA those problem Extensions to new VMail DN and test those extensions. If you're not sure what the DN is for VMail, F985.
ok, I guess it was 3 phones that had the problem, I had someone locally power cycle the system. (cold start, hope that's ok) 2 of the phones are now ok, one still gets static instead of the call pilot when pressing the button programmed to retrive messages.
Does this sound like something obvious I can fix or replace? Sorry, haven't worked on a CICS in just over 10 years.
That is your F981 button to retrieve messages. Regarding extensions, if you have spare station ports just move problem extensions and assign new mailboxes. If they want to keep same extension, swap out and change DN. I guess another way would be to change out mother board, I don't know if that's feasible on the CICS. Might as well get another shell( cabinet). Oh yeah, have you tried just swapping phones????
I haven't, I didn't think that would help. Seems to me it would be a port issue, but that doesn't make sense either. Why would this effect only 1 phone on the entire system, yet be the only problem that phone experiences? I'll have the user try the feature code instead of the button, then find the DN's of the call pilot and try them directly.
Still doesn't make sense, rebooting fixed the problem on 2 out of 3 phones? Should I reboot again, maybe just cycle that users phone? I don't want to make it worse instead of better...
