I am a newbie trying to get my CCNA so I purchased some equipment to practice. Anyway I have 2 x 2501, 1 x 2502 and 1x 1912. My problem is only with one of my 2501 whenever I connect using the console port using Hyperterminal it freezes especially on any command that generates many lines of text ie show commands/boot up sequence. I have to hit return to unfreeze and sometimes it takes a few input before it reponds. I have COM 1 set just like my other which is 9600-8-N-1 and have even tried different COM1 settings to no avail. I've troubleshoot the cables and they are fine. I have a 30 day warranty on the equipment but don't want to waste shipping if it is something I can fix. Here is any example below of me trying unsuccessfully to get to run the sh ver command:

Have you disabled hardware flow control in hyperterminal? I know that can cause this problem.

I found out the problem even though the console cable work with all the other routers and switches I found another console cable I had and when I put that one in that particular router it worked fine. Thanks for replying.

PS I still don't understand why the cable worked on all but that router. Any Ideas?
