I am trying to ensure what is entered in a field is correct. Its a textbox, bound to a table. It gets its value through a MSCOMM control when the user uses the F9 key whilst in the field. The resultant data is a time value which looks like 01:58:50:23

How can I prevent som clown not typing rubbish in the field? Thanks

Sorry, forgot to include. The field in the table is currently a text field. Thanks

Have you tried a ValidationRule ?
Like "##:##:##:##"

Hope This Helps, PH.

Thanks PHV, trust your well. Do I put that in the table properties, the field itself, or in validation code. I've tried formatting in the past and never got it right. Thanks

Can anyone enlighten me more on this. I don't want to corrupt the table. I tried putting in "##:##:##:##" in the mask property of the table, but when I went to enter data directly in the table instead of its form, it showed "##:##:##:##" in the textbox waiting for the data. Thanks

I didn't mention mask but ValidationRule ...

Hope This Helps, PH.

Sorry PHV, I'd not used that property before. However it gives an error 3317, saying One or more values are prohibited by the validation.!
